A Riverside tow company became a crime scene Tuesday after a former employee walked up to the business during the morning hours and opened fire.

Police said the gunman was a recent employee or a former employee at the business on Columbus Street near Jurupa Avenue.

“When our officers arrived, they found an adult woman who was shot multiple times,” said Officer Ryan Railsback with the Riverside Police Department.

Although investigators did not say whether the gunman and the victim knew each other, they identified the shooter as a man in his 60s.

The female victim was in critical condition after being taken to a hospital. The male gunman committed suicide shortly after shooting the woman several times.

Detectives began speaking with witnesses and reviewing surveillance cameras to pin-point the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting.
