Baja California-inspired dinner menu: Borrego Rooftop Kitchen + Cocktails is releasing a new Baja California-inspired dinner menu. New appetizer plates include an $18 mango shrimp ceviche with cucumber, jalapeños, onion, cilantro, and avocado, served with a tostada and an $18 scallop crudo with aguachile, cucumber, Fresno chiles, avocado and cilantro. There are five new dinner options, such as a $22 blackened grilled fish tacos with mango slaw and an avocado crema. Executive chef Natalie Wall curated the new menu. O’wineside Mexican wine festival: Valle, Oceanside’s Michelin-starred modern Mexican restaurant, will host its second annual celebration of Mexican wines and Baja California’s culinary spirit. More than 27 wineeries from Baja’s Valle de Guadalupe will pour tastings of more than 65 different wines, and Valle executive chef Roberto Alcocer will prepare accompanying gourmet bites. 1:30 to 4 p.m. Oct. 21. Pumpkin spice bagel: Spill the Beans is bringing back its pumpkin seasonal bagel. Throughout October, customers can order the pumpkin spice bagel with pumpkin cheesecake cream cheese. This bagel contains cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger and black pepper. The cream cheese mixes pumpkin puree, brown sugar, graham crackers and the same pumpkin spices used for the pumpkin bagel. Spill the Beans also serves a pumpkin pie cold brew coffee and a pumpkin cold foam or maple spice cold foam can be added to any beverage on the menu. Kids eat free: San Diego County museums are not the only places children can enjoy for free in October. Hasta Mañana Cantina is offering free kids’ meals for free with a purchase of an adult entree or equal or greater value. The restaurant’s children’s menu features a cheese quesadilla, a bean and cheese burrito and a grilled chicken taco on a flour tortilla. Taste of Oceanside: Downtown Oceanside will be the home for over 50 food and beverage tastings at the Taste of Oceanside. Ticketed guests can sample signature food menu items and drinks from Oceanside restaurants, wineries and breweries. Event tickets include a souvenir tasting cup, spork and an event map for this self-guided foodie tour. Taste of North Park: More than 50 food samples and 15 beverage tastings are being offered at the Taste of North Park. This event gives ticketed guests a self-guided trek to experience various eateries and beverages such as kombucha, cider and craft beer. Taste of Coronado: The 16th annual A Taste of Coronado is back with live music, entertainment and a self-guided food tasting tour. There will also be vendor booths for shopping and a complimentary trolley service throughout the event. Attendees can check in at three places in Coronado to get their event passes and map: Clayton’s Bakery at 849 Orange Ave., Rotary Park at 1002 Orange Ave. and Coronado Ferry Landing at 1201 First St. Proceeds from the event will go to the nonprofit Forever Balboa Parkto help restore the Dorothea Laub Balboa Park Carrousel, according to event organizers, the Coronado Junior Woman’s Club. 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. . coronadojuniorwomans.org/a-taste-of-coronado
