As leaders preen over digital coupon stand, city creates digital obstacles – San Diego Union-Tribune

Re “San Diego’s ban on digital-only coupons begins” (Oct. 1): So let me get this straight. Our brilliant City Council “aims to help seniors, people with limited internet access and shoppers who do not read online coupons due to language barriers” by banning digital coupons. Aren’t these shoppers the same citizens who have to navigate the digital pay parking that blankets neighborhoods like Hillcrest, North Park and soon-to-be Balboa Park?

Can anyone (senior or not) even find a kiosk, read the illegible instructions, download the app, scan the QR code, just in order to shop or enjoy the park?

Doesn’t anyone else see this as yet another example of City Hall insanity?

Seems to me that digital coupons are the least of our problems!
