Caitlin Clark is sitting out of All-Star Weekend.
The Indiana Fever star announced Thursday she will miss the All-Star Game and 3-Point Contest after suffering a groin injury in a game on Tuesday.
Indianapolis will host All-Star festivities this weekend, but Clark is prioritizing rest and recovery in what has been an injury-plagued season.
“I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can’t participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game,” Clark said in a statement. “I have to rest my body. I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action and I’m looking forward to helping (Sandy Brondello) coach our team to a win.”
Clark was named a captain for the All-Star Game, drafting a stacked team that includes her Fever teammate Aliyah Boston, Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson and New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu.
In Tuesday’s game against the Connecticut Sun at TD Garden in Boston, Clark was injured in the final minute of the Fever’s victory. She walked downcourt holding her right groin after assisting on the Fever’s final basket and was visibly upset leaving the floor.
She sat out of the Fever’s loss to the Liberty on Wednesday, but Indiana coach Stephanie White said the team did receive good news after imaging by the training staff.
After never missing a game in college and her rookie year, injuries have been a theme for Clark in her second WNBA season. She’s missed time with four different muscle injuries, including her quad and groin.
Clark has played in 13 of the Fever’s 23 games this season, averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds with her shooting percentages down from 2024.
