New details in the shooting deaths of an ‘American Idol’ music supervisor and her husband emerged Monday night at a community safety meeting in Encino about the couple’s deadly encounter with an intruder.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman told residents at the meeting that the man arrested in connection with the fatal July 10 shootings of Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas Delucam, both 70, used the couple’s own gun after a confrontation with the homeowners when they arrived home that night.

Hochman said that 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian then used his cellphone to call police about the crime. Booderian identified himself and police located the phone, leading to his arrest, Hochman said.

Details about when Boodarian called police were not immediately available.

He was charged with murder and burglary. Arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 20.

Boodarian was booked last year on suspicion of threat, weapons, and battery charges. A judge dismissed his case after a mental health evaluation.

The shooting is believed that have happened during a possible burglary at the house. The shooter entered the residence through an unlocked door and, during a confrontation with the couple when they arrived home, shots were fired, authorities said.

Colleagues of the “American Idol” executive and man who were found dead in their Encino home said they previously expressed concerns for their safety. Robert Kovacik reports for the NBC4 News at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

Dispatch records show LAPD officers were sent to the home that afternoon on a report of a prowler. Officers arrived at about 5 p.m., but did not find evidence of a burglary or prowler and left the scene.

The bodies were found four days later when officers responded at about 2:30 p.m. to White Oak Place off of Ventura Boulevard, after a call for a welfare check. Police discovered a trail of blood in front of the house and entered the residence through a glass door at the rear of the property.

Officers found two people inside the home who had been shot and killed. The man and woman were found in separate rooms.

Kaye was a veteran in the Hollywood industry who also worked in the music departments of several other productions, including “The Singing Bee,” “Hollywood Game Night,” “Lip Sync Battle,” and several Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. She had worked on ‘American Idol’ since 2009.

At Monday night’s meeting, the LAPD said they would increase patrols, especially during the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. They also said they would have helicopter flyovers to ensure that the community is safe.

Two break-ins were reported Monday night in the west San Fernando Valley community.
