The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating another home break-in in Encino in the middle of the day on Thursday.

There has already been an increase in patrols in the area as part of the LAPD’s latest strategy in trying to prevent crime in Encino, but this latest break-in has residents on high alert.

Neighbors said they are scared and fed up after a string of break-ins.

The latest happened near Woodvale Road and Valley Meadow at around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the homeowner had just left her home when police say up to six men, wearing masks, broke in through a glass back door and left the home with boxes.

According to police, the group may have gotten away in a black Mercedes with no license plates.

It is not clear how the intruders are picking their targets. But the only connection between these recent break-ins is large homes in an area dubbed “South of the Boulevard,” in reference to Ventura Boulevard.

This is the same area where “American Idol” executive and her husband were killed in, while in their home, during an attempted robbery about two weeks ago.

Friday morning, residents can expect to see police on horse-back in addition to helicopter fly-overs.
