It’s a wrap on Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour, and she ended it with a bang!
The 32-show tour ended Saturday night at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and Queen Bey pulled out all the stops, since she was in the City of Lights after all.
At the beginning of the night, she revealed to the audience that she had a special show planned. But, the BeyHive wasn’t quite prepared for what she had in store.
The starry evening began when she brought out country singer Shaboozey to perform their song “Sweet Honey Buckiin,’” from her GRAMMY award-winning album “Cowboy Carter.”
As the night continued, the singer entered the part of her set where she honored her earlier hits atop a prop semi truck—decked out in a sequin leotard that read Déjà Blue with a photo of her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. It’s a play off her 2006 song “Déjà Vu” with husband Jay-Z. It also honors Blue Ivy Carter, who performs a solo dance during the show to that song.
Beyoncé starts the set with her 2003 hit “Crazy in Love.” Halfway through, the camera pans to a pair of Timberlands walking onto the stage. The camera moves up to slowly show Jay-Z, and he immediately jumps in to rap his portion of the hit. Husband and wife then strut down the stage together, and finish the song with Bey kissing her husband before he performs his 2011 hit “In Paris” from his joint album with Kanye West, “Watch the Throne”
Jay had previously made appearances at some other Cowboy Carter Tour stops. While the Roc Nation founder’s appearance shocked fans, it was nothing compared to what was to come.
Beyoncé then moved on to the “Renaissance” portion of the show, playing hits from the 2023 dance album.
At one point, the singer reappears from under the stage, bringing two women with her. The three stand in a stance that immediately takes everyone back to the early aughts. The smoke clears to reveal Destiny’s Child decked out in cohesive gold outfits.
“Destiny’s Child, b–ch!” Kelly Rowland yells to the crowd as the three women walked down the long stage and sang “Lose My Breath.” The three then sang Beyoncé’s hit “Energy,” where they joined the crowd in the Mute Challenge from the song. However, it took the crowd a second to register what exactly was happening, because the surprise was just unreal.
In the ultimate nostalgic move, the trio then sang their 2001 single “Bootylicious.” They then walked backstage together holding hands.
From there, Blue Ivy appears to perform her solo dance “Déjà Vu,” a passing of the torch in some ways.
The reunion sent the internet into a frenzy as the group hadn’t been onstage together since Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella performances.
“My Mount Rushmore,” Beyoncé’s sister Solange commented on an Instagram post of the reunion.
“The Chil’ren!” wrote Michelle on Instagram.
“I could not be prouder to see Destiny’s Child reunited on stage in Las Vegas, especially as Beyoncé closes out the Cowboy Carter tour, which broke records and made history throughout its run,” wrote Beyoncé’s father and Destiny’s Child former manager, Mathew Knowles, on Instagram. “I know people cheer not just for the music, but them together as women and performers reminding us what’s possible when we dream big and work hard which should be no different in our world of business.”
To end the show, the singer sang “16 Carriages”, hoisted on an airborne gold horse. As she said her goodbyes to the audience, she reminded them to “never ask for permission for what’s already yours.”
She was then joined by Blue to say one last goodbye before galloping into the sunset as the Cowboy Carter era came to a close.
The Cowboy Carter Tour kicked off in April at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. It consisted of 32 different shows across the U.S. and Europe.
