Evacuation warning issued after brush fire breaks out in Rancho Bernardo

An evacuation warning was lifted after firefighters gained control of a blaze that broke out in Rancho Bernardo on Friday, officials said.

The fire was reported near Camino Del Norte and Bernardo Center Drive around 2:40 p.m., according to Jose Ysea, a spokesperson for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The fire had burned about 13 acres before a combination of crews on the ground and water drops from helicopters stopped its forward progress around 4:25 p.m., officials said.

Evacuation warnings were initially issued after the fire was first reported but were lifted around 5:40 p.m., fire officials said.
