It was a team meeting like no other for these football players at the University of Texas at Austin.

Actor Glen Powell made a surprise appearance in a special announcement via a video call for the Longhorns’ fifth-year senior linebacker Marshall Landwehr.

“What’s up Longhorns? It’s Glen Powell, fellow Texas alum,” he said in a video shared on X by the team. “I have newfound respect for what it takes to join a football team. It takes grit. It takes grind, and most importantly, it takes heart. Marshall, your hard work has not gone unnoticed. That’s why Texas is giving you a scholarship.”

Once the announcement was made, Landwehr’s teammates exploded into cheers. He then walked across the meeting room’s seats to embrace the team’s coaches and staff.

“When we talk about everybody in this room has a role in the organization, this is the epitome of that, dude,” Coach Steve Sarkisian said. “I couldn’t be more fired up for you, man. Congratulations!”

Landwehr then addressed his team, explaining that they’re the reason he shows up every day.

“(I have) been doing this for five years. It doesn’t get old, keep working. This is the dream, man,” he said of the full-ride scholarship.

Landwher joined the team in 2021 and has appeared in 15 games. He’s an alum of Highland Park High School, where he earned an all-state honorable mention on defense.

Powell, a Texas native, attended UT at Austin’s Moody College of Communication, but left to pursue a career in Hollywood. He’s currently working to complete his degree sometime this year.

The “Top Gun: Maverick” actor got up-close-and-personal with the gridiron for his upcoming Hulu series “Chad Powers.” Super Bowl champion Eli Manning is the show’s executive producer along with his brother, Omaha Productions co-founder and fellow Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning.

“When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers,” per the show’s summary. “Based on the sketch produced by NFL Films and Omaha Productions that aired on ESPN+ as part of the ‘Eli’s Places’ series, the half-hour comedy from 20th Television will stream on Hulu. Powell and Waldron co-wrote the pilot.”

“Chad Powers” premieres Sept. 30 on Hulu.
