The Knights stayed unbeaten on the young season by winning their home opener over the Patriots on Aug. 30.

Bishop’s broke open a scoreless tie by scoring two touchdowns in the third quarter on short runs by Josiayah Bryant and Isaiah Garcia.

The Knights made it 21-0 on a 2-yard TD pass from quarterback Cash Herrera to Nick Pfister late in the fourth quarter.

A 20-yard TD pass for Christian broke up the shutout.

Bishop’s (2-0) next will take on the California Military Institute (0-2) on the road in Perris at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11.

La Jolla High 52, Patrick Henry 14

The Vikings bounced back in a big way from their season-opening 43-19 loss at Torrey Pines by trouncing Patrick Henry (0-2) at home Aug. 29.

The Vikings (1-1) next visit crosstown rival La Jolla Country Day (also 1-1) at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5.

Mount Carmel 34, La Jolla Country Day 27

Country Day had a 20-0 halftime lead on the road Aug. 29, but Mount Carmel (2-0) rallied and then prevailed in a back-and-forth fourth quarter, scoring the winning touchdown with less than a minute to play on a 16-yard pass.

An interception sealed the win for the Sundevils.

Country Day quarterback Jett Astephen threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns. Quentin Cesaire had 11 catches for 97 yards and a score, and Hesh Hertz had seven catches, including a 44-yard TD.

Next for the Torreys (1-1) is their home opener against La Jolla High (also 1-1) at 7 p.m. Sept. 5. ♦
