The devastating floods in Texas have caught the attention of some major celebrities.
The catastrophe has killed over 100 people in Central Texas, including 27 campers and counselors from Camp Mystic, a girls’ summer camp.
Actor Matthew McConaughey, who was born and raised in the Lone Star State, issued a statement on X on Sunday when the death toll was 70.
“If you’re able, please lend a helping hand where and how you can,” he wrote. “It’s gonna be a long road ahead, but right now the shock, the pain, and the chaos need the steady hand of a neighbor.”
He went on to praise his home state, saying that “Texans are some of the most resilient and generous people on the planet.”
Actress Hilary Duff, who hails from Houston, Texas, took to Instagram to weigh in on the tragedy.
“Heartbroken doesn’t begin to cover it. Consumed. Obsessed. Praying for even a shred of a miracle to find a child alive in the wake of this boundless disaster,” she wrote. “Tears fall every time l imagine one of these families receiving bad news… waiting… or entire families lost. Just gone. It’s too much to comprehend.”
She then extended her thoughts and love to those in the region and revealed she, too, attended summer camp back home.
“Beautiful Texas, I love you. To all the boots on the ground—l love you. To those facing tremendous, impossible loss-we are looking at their beautiful faces, embossing them in our minds. We will remember them. Bright lights, gone far too soon,” she continued. “I was-and forever will be girl with a wild-hearted, fierce love for my barefoot summers at camp in the Texas Hill country. It imprints on your soul. It changes your identity. It’s a realm of true magic. You could never imagine an ending this tragic. I’m just so deeply, absolutely sorry. Your loss is felt across the world.”
Country singer Maren Morris said her home state has been consuming her thoughts.
“The floods are devastating and people are still missing,” she wrote on Instagram. “There are several places to donate, but I’ll be donating to an incredibly impactful fund called the Texas Hill Country Community Foundation. They’ve set up a specific fund to support local efforts (nonprofits, local government, first responders and local shelters).”

Global sensation Shakira, who’s in the middle of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, announced on July 5 that she’s donating a portion of her show in San Antonio to flood relief efforts.
“Dear San Antonio, our hearts and prayers are with those affected by the flood in central Texas,” Shakira wrote on X. “We are donating a portion of tonight’s show proceeds to Catholic Charities of San Antonio, who are providing disaster relief to the families impacted.”
Country singer Miranda Lambert, a Longview, Texas native, took to Instagram to announce donation efforts to flood victims.
” I can’t even come up with any words for the loss that everybody’s suffering. MuttNation Foundation is working really closely with Kerrville Pets Alive as we speak to try to get more info and figure out where the needs are to support the pet community and pet owners in this disaster,” she explained. “We will have more info as it goes, but I’ll post everything that I know to post right now, so y’all join with us and try to help out as much as you can, and keep sending prayers and I’ll keep you posted.”
Singer Lana Del Rey also shared her thoughts on the tragedy on social media.
“I just want to say how sorry I am for so many people’s losses in Kern County and beyond in Texas. We’ve been thinking of you every day since the floods,” she wrote. “All of my prayers are with you every moment of the day this week and may all angels be with you as you search for even more lost loved ones.”
“I’m so sorry for everyone who’s going through this. It’s truly unprecedented and I can’t even imagine it,” she continued before ending her note with “All my love.”
In the meantime, authorities continue to search for victims in the wake of the deadly floods.
