Starbucks will be the official coffee partner of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Team USA, it was announced Tuesday.

The global coffee chain is the fourth founding partner for the 2028 Olympics, joining Comcast, the official wireless communications services partner; official airline Delta; and Honda, the official automotive partner.

The partnership will include a specially-designed coffeehouse in the Olympics and Paralympic villages. Starbucks also will be serving at cafes at competition venues, volunteer hubs and other locations.

The LA28 team is already working on their own sustainability plans after Paris hosted the most climate-conscious Summer Olympics yet. National climate reporter Chase Cain talks with LA28’s head of sustainability about their climate goals for 2028.

“As the Official Coffee Partner of the LA28 Games and Team USA, we are brewing more than great coffee – we are championing a global celebration,” said Tressie Lieberman, evp and global chief brand officer of Starbucks Coffee Company. “Core to our mission is a commitment to inspire and nurture the human spirit — one person, one cup, and one neighborhood at a time. Starbucks is proud to bring connection, culture, community and incredible coffee – to the world stage.”

The LA 2028 Olympics Opening Ceremony is July 14, 2028 with competition through July 30, 2028. The LA28 Paralympic Games will kick off Aug. 15, 2028 and close Aug. 27, 2028.

Starbucks has operated in greater Los Angeles for nearly 35 years and now has more than 1,000 stores in the region. Earlier this year, the Starbucks Foundation contributed $1 million to relief and recovery efforts following the January wildfires.
