Firefighters are attacking a brush fire Thursday in Riverside County.
The fire, estimated at 20 acres, was reported at about 9:30 a.m. near Pauba Road and Winners Circle in Temecula. Firefighting aircraft responded to the hillsides covered in light dry brush.
Images showed a large smoke plume billowing from the canyon.
There were no structures under immediate threat.
Containment early Thursday afternoon was at 5 percent.
Cal Fire has reported nearly 4,000 wildfires this year that have burned about 182,000 acres. At this time last year, 3,339 wildfires burned more than 76,000 acres.
