A San Fernando Valley music shop featured in “Wayne’s World” will screen the movie in a final farewell after decades in business.
Cassell’s Music announced plans earlier this year to close after nearly 78 years. For about four days of those nearly eight decades, Cassell’s provided the location for the movie inspired by the Saturday Night Live sketch.

Cassell’s was the stand-in for Wayne and Garth’s favorite music store in their hometown of Aurora, Illinois. It is where Wayne, portrayed by actor Mike Myers, longs for the vintage Stratocaster “Excalibur” and Garth, played by Dana Carvey, launches into an epic drum solo.
Ed Intagliata, 71, became the shop’s owner about 50 years ago after graduating from Cal State Fullerton with a music degree. Intagliata’s father bought the shop from founder Albert Cassell in 1978.
Intagliata recently announced his retirement.
He spoke with the Los Angeles Times about the shop and the “Wayne’s World” shoot.
“They had a location scout come in one day and he was just asking, ‘Hey, we are looking for a music store to film a movie of a ‘Saturday Night Live’ sketch,’ and I didn’t see him for many months,” Intagliata said. “He came back in again and said they liked my store, and apparently went to like seven or eight states looking for a music store that would fit what they were looking for.”
