After a 1-year-old child was killed in a traffic accident Wednesday in Long Beach, authorities Thursday continued to investigate the incident.
The collision occurred around 6:00 p.m. in the 5500 block of Ackerfield Avenue where the mother of the little girl was driving her vehicle in a carport area of an apartment complex.
The child was walking in front of the car, but the mom did not realize and struck the toddler with the vehicle.
The toddler was transported to a nearby hospital, where, despite lifesaving efforts by paramedics and medical staff, was pronounced dead. The identity of the child is being withheld due to her age.
Authorities said they do not suspect the driver was impaired or distracted driving in the collision.
