Four people were killed early Sunday in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver, law enforcement in Norwalk said.
Officers were calling to the southbound 605 Freeway – north of the 105 Freeway — just before 1 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. There, a Nissan sedan crashed with a CHP patrol unit for reasons still under investigation.
Due to the incident, the Nissan became disabled in the No. 2 lane and was involved in a second crash with a Kia. The second crash caused the Nissan to become fully engulfed in flames, trapping all four occupants inside.
All individuals who were in the Nissan died at the scene, according to CHP. Their names have not been released.
Officials said the driver of the Kia was suspected of driving under the influence. The driver and their passenger were both taken to an area hospital for their injuries.
