
A woman died after what police said was an apparent collision with a vehicle on private property in Escondido late Thursday.
The incident happened about 9:40 p.m. on South Maple Street, north of West Felicita Avenue, Escondido police Lt. Ryan Hicks said.
Police and firefighters arrived and tried to save the woman, but she died at the scene, Hicks said.
He did not provide further details, including how the woman was struck or what preceded the collision, and no information was provided regarding the driver.
Hicks said the incident remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.
The woman was an Escondido resident, but police did not disclose her name.
