Spain followed suit in a 1-0 win over Germany the next day, with two-time Ballon d’or Feminin winner Aitana Bonmati scoring in the 113th minute of extra time.
Spain is the reigning Women’s World Cup champions and have quality technicians across the pitch, while the Lionesses are seeking to repeat following their 2022 Euros overtime win over Germany.
