Firefighters were battling a blaze Thursday that burned pallets of hand sanitizer outside a business in South Park.
The fire was reported around 5:14 p.m. in the 5400 block of Avalon Boulevard, according to the LAFD..
Crews planned to allow the alcohol-based hand sanitizer to burn off while protecting exposed areas, the LAFD said.
More than 50 firefighters responded to the fire. LAFD HazMat specialists were also requested to assist with cleanup efforts.
It’s unclear how the fire was started.
