Police are asking the public for help in identifying dozens of people involved in a high-end retail burglary on July 18 in Santa Monica.
Officers with the Santa Monica Police Department responded to reports of breaking glass at The RealReal vintage and consignment clothing store in the 200 block of 26th Street. When they arrived, they found the store’s front glass door shattered.
“Once inside, the suspects broke multiple display cases and removed a large quantity of high-end merchandise before fleeing the scene,” police said in a statement.
Investigators determined that more than a dozen individuals had participated in the retail burglary. Witnesses reported that several getaway vehicles were present, all with their license plates removed.
The business sustained an unspecific massive loss of high-end merchandise, which is still being assessed by investigators, according to officers.
Another incident in Santa Monica happened in June, when two suspects smashed the glass door of Amai Coffee. Although nothing was stolen, the coffee shop suffered $1,000 in damage, authorities said.
