Dozens of Encino residents packed a community meeting on Monday, demanding to know why the man suspected of killing a couple in the area was out on the streets despite his concerning history.

Robin Kaye, who has worked on “the show”American Idol” since 2009, and her husband, Thomas Deluca, were found dead last month in separate rooms in their San Fernando Valley residence.

Raymond Boodarian, 22, was charged with murder and burglary in connection with Kaye and Deluca’s murder. But court records also showed he was jailed last year on suspicion of threat, weapons and battery charges, but his case was dismissed.

In light of the latest troubling discoveries, the Encino Neighborhood Council voiced the safety concerns of many neighbors, who said they are disturbed he was out of jail after the charges were dismissed.

“The neighborhood is really upset and scared and nervous about what happened and why was this person arrested several times before and then let out again to commit this awful crime,” said Roy Nwasser, Vice President of the Encino Neighborhood Council.

LA District Attorney Nathan Hochman assured the community that he hears them, and vowed to bring the victims to justice.

“It is not fair, it is not right, but that is the laws we have in place now, those laws have to change,” Hochman said. “And I am going to help lead an effort over the next year or whatever time it takes.”

LAPD Capt. Michael Bland echoed Hochman’s vow.

“This is not something we take lightly even if we can sit here and talk about decreases in crime,” Bland said.

In wake of the murders, extra patrols have been placed in Encino from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
