A Los Angeles man who is accused of throwing objects at federal officials during an immigration enforcement operation in June was arrested at the U.S.-Mexico border, the FBI announced Wednesday

Elpidio Reyna, 39, has been on the FBI’s wanted list since June 7 when he allegedly threw concrete blocks to federal vehicles that were passing through Alondra Boulevard in Paramount

Since being captured at the San Ysidro Port of Entry Wednesday morning, Reyna has been returned to the Los Angeles area ahead of his court hearing Wednesday afternoon.

“When agents attempted to arrest Reyna, he was not located and agents developed information confirming that he fled to Mexico,” the FBI said, adding his pictures and descriptions were distributed in Mexico as well.

Reyna had been initially detained by Mexican authorities in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. But after negotiations, the Compton man agreed to surrender to the FBI.

The concrete blocks that Reyna allegedly threw damaged federal vehicles and injured a federal official, the FBI added.

The alleged assault happened when there were clashes between protesters and federal law enforcement officials on June 7 in Paramount.

After Border Patrol agents had set up a staging area near a Home Depot on Alondra Boulevard, protesters gathered, throwing concrete blocks and glass bottles at federal vehicles. Federal agents responded with tear gas and rubber bullets.
