Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Hilda L. Solis led a moment of silence to honor all victims of violence connected to federal immigration enforcement, including Renee Nicole Good, who was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.
The tribute also honored two people shot by federal agents during an ICE operation in Portland, and others including Keith Porter and Silvero Villegas Gonzalez.
“These shootings reveal the deadly consequences of federal immigration enforcement under the current administration,” Solis said. “Reckless decisions and a lack of meaningful oversight continue to put communities across the country at unnecessary risk. The federal government has not provided adequate answers or taken accountability for these actions.”
Solis emphasized that communities deserve safety, dignity and protection rather than fear, raids and government-sanctioned violence. She encouraged residents to stay informed and know their rights as the county continues to navigate federal immigration raids.
