The legendary Mexican band Los Bukis is set to get its star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next week.
The group, formed by cousins Marco Antonio and Joel Solís in 1971 when they were children in Michoacán, México, has become a household name to many generations of Latino families. Some of their hits include “Quiéreme,” “Tu Cárcel,” “Yo Te Necesito,” “Ya Ahora Te Vas,” “Morenita,” among many others.
The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, July 23, at 11:30 a.m. at 7060 Hollywood Boulevard.
Their breakthrough came in 1976, but it was in the 80s that Los Bukis saw the fruits of their labor explode, headlining massive concerts and dominating radio.
“Their iconic discography has been part of the soundtrack of the Mexican experience for over 20 years, and we’re happy to give them the flowers they deserve,” said Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez.
The group that has sold out concerts in many countries around the world came back in 2021 after a 25-year hiatus. Here, all band members came together to later headline their stadium tour “Una Historia Cantada,” the first of Latin artists to accomplish this. Los Bukis also became the first to complete an all-Spanish residency in Las Vegas.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced the list of the 2025 honorees about a year ago. When Los Bukis found out they were on the list, they posted the following message on their Instagram:
“Five decades ago, this was born with such essence, an essence of love and truth that managed to touch millions of hearts who today celebrate with us this recognition that will shine brightly in our firmament. Thanks to Bukimania for taking us to this transcendent place. And forever Los Bukis.”
More than 30 artists will be added in 2025. Los Bukis’ star will be the 2,817th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The event can be seen here.
