
A man allegedly armed with a shotgun was arrested Wednesday following an early morning pursuit in Huntington Beach.
Two officers attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle during a nocturnal patrol around 12:15 a.m. in the area of Huntington and Main Street. A pursuit ensued after the suspected driver refused to stop.
The pursuit ended shortly at the intersection of Adams Avenue and Main Street after a solo collision.
The man exited the vehicle with a shotgun and discharged the weapon as he attempted to flee, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department. Officers stopped the foot pursuit and set up a containment perimeter.
After a coordinated approach from law enforcement, the suspected driver was located and taken into custody. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
The suspected driver was identified as 33-year-old Anh Tran.
Tran was booked into Huntington Beach Police Department Jail on suspicion of assault with a firearm on an officer, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm with a previous conviction, possession of a firearm without a serial number, possession of ammunition by a felon, possession of a controlled substance with a loaded firearm, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of a hard drug with two prior convictions, obstructing an officer, and evading an officer.
No officers or community members were injured.
