
Next month, the elusive chanteuse will be the recipient of a major honor.
Mariah Carey will receive the Video Vanguard Award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.
The network made the announcement on Thursday in a post on Instagram.
“OUR 2025 @MTV #VMA VIDEO VANGUARD IS… @MARIAHCAREY!” the caption read. “Get ready to feel alllll the emotions as we celebrate her incredible career.”
Other artists receiving major honors include Busta Rhymes, who will receive the MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award, and Ricky Martin, who is getting the Latin Icon Award.
Carey, Busta and Martin are all set to perform at the ceremony.
As for this year’s nominees, Lady Gaga leads the pack with 12 nods, while her “Die With a Smile” collaborator Bruno Mars comes in second place with 11 nominations.
LL Cool J will host the 2025 MTV VMAs, which will air live on Sept. 7 on CBS for the first time ever. It will also be simulcast on MTV and will stream on Paramount+. The ceremony will be held at the UBS Arena in New York at 8 p.m.
