Officers seized hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine disguised as solar panels at Los Angeles International Airport, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Photos posted on the agency’s social media Monday show officers cutting back the panels, revealing about 300 lbs of the illegal drug hidden underneath.

“We do this every day. These ‘criminal masterminds’ never stood a chance,” CBP wrote in the post.
Officers were able to intercept the shipment before its export, which was headed for New Zealand, after it was flagged based on “prior intel,” according to the agency.
CBP officers have seized about 116,000 pounds of methamphetamine in 2025 so far, according to data from the agency. Across all types of illegal drugs, the agency has seized just under 420,000 pounds already this year.
Earlier in July, U.S. Border Patrol agents seized nearly 130 pounds of fentanyl hidden inside a flatbed trailer in Pine Valley.
