Police are searching for the person who shot the suspected driver that injured dozens of people in East Hollywood on Saturday.
Police released photos of the suspected shooter and say they have very good video of what happened but will not release it to the public yet.
Investigators say that when he is caught, he will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon with a firearm.
As of Sunday night, police say the number of victims is now 37 and they believe that number will go up as more people report that they were there, but were able to walk away.
The LAPD says they believe 29-year-old Fernando Ramirez was at the club and was kicked out less than ten minutes later.
They allege that he drove his car down the sidewalk, ramming into the crowd.
“We are very fortunate that we didn’t lose any of these victims to this incident. And the fact that a hot dog cart most likely saved that one victim’s life by getting up underneath the vehicle and protecting her from her demise, it’s incredible,” said Capt. Ben Fernandes with the LAPD.
Police say Ramirez is still in the hospital waiting for surgery to get the bullet removed from his body.
NBC4 Investigates has learned that the 29-year-old has an extensive criminal history ranging from misdemeanors to felonies.
