
Several planes were grounded Sunday following an IT outage affecting Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air flights.
The outage began around 8 p.m., impacting the airlines’ operations, according to a spokesperson for Alaska Airlines.
“We requested a temporary, system-wide ground stop for Alaska and Horizon Air flights until the issue is resolved,” wrote Alaska Airlines in a statement to NBC4.
At least a dozen flights scheduled to take off Sunday night were still on the ground at LAX.
The airline urges travelers to check the status of their flight before leaving for the airport.
The cause of the outage was not immediately clear.
