A swastika was found drawn outside a Beverly Hills elementary school on Monday, according to a local school district.
The incident took place outside El Rodeo Elementary School, according to Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD). It added that the drawing comes “at a particularly sensitive time for Jewish families as Rosh Hashanah begins this evening.”
“Antisemitism is not abstract; it is real, and it continues to show up in ways that are meant to intimidate,” the school district said in a statement. “We want to be clear: hate of any kind is not acceptable.”
The vandalism was removed immediately and reported to police, BHUSD said.
With the High Holy Days underway, the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the departments would increase patrols around Jewish institutions.
