Re “To defend democracy, we must put our bodies on the line” (July 3): This article by U-T Community Opinion Editor Tania Navarro clearly provokes acts of defiance against ICE agents by putting one’s body on the line with “a physical, deliberate act of resistance.” Resistance against lawful authority invariably results in those who believe in her faulty logic suffering the consequences.
The author’s errors in reasoning are exceeded by her emotionally incensed example of an unlawful detention of a citizen to further incite her rhetoric, irrespective of knowing all the circumstances. Moreover, she further shades the laws of our country with euphemisms by conflating unauthorized presence as nothing more than the equivalent of a parking ticket and writing illegal immigrants are merely undocumented.
The remonstrance of Navarro’s “poner el cuerpo” should addendum “pero no me incluyas.”
